Disabled man hacked to death in Avadi
37-year-old physically challenged man was hacked to death on Sunday night in Avadi and his relatives suspect the involvement of the family of his estranged wife, as he refused to give her divorce.

The deceased J Gopal, who was working at a mobile phone service centre in the locality, separated from his wife Pavithra seven years ago, after which he injured his leg in a train accident and developed difficulty in walking. The couple has a seven-year-old daughter, Kamali.
On Sunday evening, Gopal, who lives with his parents in Konambedu near Thiruvallur, went to collect laundry and never returned. While searching for him, his father Jayaraman found him lying in a pool of blood in a ground in MGR Nagar in Parthipattu. He was hacked 11 times all over the body to death and there were liquor bottles strewn around.
On information, Avadi police recovered his body and sent it for post-mortem. After preliminary inquiry, police said that they suspect the involvement of his father-in-law Pazhani and brother-in-law Prabakaran, as their house was locked and their phones were not reachable. Gopal’s phone is also missing.
Gopal’s father Jayaram told DT Next that Prabakaran wanted to meet his son to inform their decision regarding the latter’s reconciliation with Pavithra. “His phone was not reachable since 9 pm and we found him dead with multiple cut injuries,” he said.
“As there were differences between the couple over Pavithra’s ill-health, her family started abusing and attacking Jayaraman after which they split,” said Jayaraman. Police said Gopal’s murderers will be nabbed soon.
