Facebook inter-faith list: Twitter activities tracked to Bengaluru
Tracking the social media activities of a person who had put out a list of interfaith couples on his Facebook page and called for violence against them, police in Tamil Nadu have found that he was accessing his social media account from Bengaluru.
Chennai
The man, Satish Maylavarupu (Anna), came under the radar of the police here after his digital footprint on Facebook showed his ‘current location’ as Dindigul. On Sunday, the page was removed from the social networking site.Â
On January 28, Satish had put out a list of 102 couples, including links to their profiles, in his page named ‘Hindutva Varta’. He identified these as interfaith couples and called for their elimination. This triggered strong condemnation from several social media activists, following which Facebook removed the page and his profile on Sunday.Â
While his home town was listed as Jamshedpur, FB details also showed that he lived in Colaba, Maharashtra, in between. He has been on FB since 2012, airing comments and pictures that were extremely pro-Hindu and anti-Muslim in nature. The search was launched in the wake of media reports regarding the controversial page and posts that incite violence.
