College student, school girl end lives in 2 incidents

The deceased was identified as D Manjuneshwaran, a first-year computer science student of SRM Engineering College. Police said that he ended his life after the college administration informed his parents of his poor performance the recent examination. It is said that Manjuneshwaran’s father Dhananjayan scolded at him on Wednesday morning and asked him to focus on his studies. 

When Manjuneshwaran returned home after college around 4 pm, his parents were not at home. When his father returned home around 6 pm, he was shocked to see Manjuneshwaran hanging from ceiling. He was rushed to SRM Hospital but was declared brought dead. 

His body has been sent to Chengalpattu Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. Maraimalai Nagar police have registered a case and are investigating. 

In yet another similar incident, a Class 10 student, Harineeshwari of Akkarai near Neelankarai, committed suicide at her house. Police sources said that she recently complained to her parents that her friends have been ignoring her. 

After she returned from school on Tuesday, she hanged self when her parents away. Her body was sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital (GRH) for autopsy. 

A case has been registered and further investigation is on, said police officers.
