Woman attempts suicide after killing infant son

The woman Geetha, a widow, was rescued by neighbours when she was trying to kill herself by hanging, the police said. She is undergoing treatment at the Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital. Police said Geetha was living with her son Rohit at Srinivasapuram, Chetpet. Her husband Sridhar committed suicide two years ago when she was three months pregnant. Since then she attempted to end her life several times. 

On Sunday evening, a neighbour, who noticed the woman hanging from the ceiling, broke open the door and rescued her and took her to the hospital along with her son who had froth on his mouth. At KMC, the child was declared brought dead on arrival. Police indicated that she was unhappy with her parents’ move to marry her off again.
