Inaugurating ‘Kurukshetra’, the technology festival of College of Engineering in Guindy, he commended students in Tamil Nadu for taking to higher education in large numbers.

"In today’s India, opportunities are manifold. When you look at the world with confidence and trust, you are bound to see it reflected in others," he said in his address.

He recalled an article in Gandhi’s ‘Young India’ on October 22, 1925 in which the Mahatma cautioned against seven deadly sins that could destroy a nation.

“They are wealth without work, pleasure without conscience, knowledge without character, commerce without morality, science without humanity, religion without sacrifice and politics without principle. Let us identify the people who practice these sins in our midst and reform them without any further delay,’’ the Governor said.

Minister of Higher Education, KP Anbalagan, Principal Secretary to Tamil Nadu Government Higher Education Department, Sunil Paliwal and other officials participated in the function.

Talking to reporters about the long-pending Anna University Vice Chancellor appointment, Anbalagan said that applications are being received. The search committee will forward the approved applications to the TN Governor who will appoint the Vice Chancellor for the university. He also reiterated that engineering counselling will be done online from this year onwards.
