Chennai to embrace another night filled with hybrid art

The 12 hours are filled with ice-breaker sessions, interactions, and collaborations between artists from different genres – after which the creative results will be exhibited for an audience. It goes without saying that artists are most inspired at night – that’s why the all-nighter concept – with a lot of coffee to go around. “People are rarely just one thing. 

A photographer can also be interested in script-writing; an artist might want to be a dancer. But when we look for workshops to improve our skills, there are hardly any that brings several artistic elements under one banner. Hybrid art projects are the end results,” says Pawan Rochwani, the founder of PFA. ‘Art All Night’ was held in several cities last year across India, including Chennai. 

Now, in the second edition, the organisers are expecting an increase in participation and eagerness. To be held at Wandering Artist in RA Puram on January 20, the event will host a maximum of 30 participants, who are not necessarily professionals, but also aspirants and hobbyists. 

“Businessmen and engineers have networking fairs but where would the creative people go? This is the platform for them. The important thing is that they are looking to create together. We have had people from different fields meet at earlier events, be excited at the possibility and set up a combined venture later. That’s what we want Chennai to embrace,” Pawan adds.
