Verdict reserved on release of Surya film
The release of Tamil movie ‘Thaanaa Serndha Koottam’ starring actor Suriya, has run into rough weather, with film production house Staar Movies – owned by actor Prashanth’s mother Shanthi Thiagarajan moving an appeal at the Madras High Court against its release.
Chennai
The appeal is against the refusal of a single judge to stall the release three days ago.
The first bench comprising Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Abdul Quddose on hearing lengthy arguments from both sides posted the case for orders on Wednesday.
The counsel appearing for Shanthi Thiagarajan submitted that she is vested with the original rights and had sold it to the present producers to produce a Tamil film.
But contrary to the rights, they on producing the movie had dubbed it in Telugu. It was submitted that they could use Telugu subtitles and not dub the movie in Telugu as that robbed them of their rights to remake the film in Telugu.
