The incident took place around 7.30 am at lake view road near Mambalam railway station when he took his daughter Keerthana to school on his bike. A two-member gang which came in the opposite direction on a bike rammed Kandhan's bike, making him fall on the road. Even before he realised what happened, the duo got off the bike and started hacking him with lethal weapons. Panicked Keerthana who tried to stop them got her hand injured.Â
While Kandhan died on the spot, the duo fled the scene. On information, Kumaran Nagar police rushed to the spot and sent Kandhan's body to Rotapettah Government Hospital for post-mortem.Â
After the preliminary inquiry, police said that there were two more persons waiting in an autorickshaw at the same spot and followed the duo after the incident. Since the two men in bike were wearing helmet, police are finding it difficult to establish their identity. Since there is a case pending against Kandhan, police suspect that he could have been murdered over previous enmity. Further investigation is on.
