2 workers killed on GST Road

Two persons were killed after the car they were travelling in hit a stationary lorry parked on the GST Road in Chromepet on Friday morning. The deceased were identified as M Saranraj, 24, the driver and P Rajendran, 56, a security guard. Both worked for an auto major in Maraimalai Nagar. A mobile tea vendor was also injured.

The car was engaged to drop back the firm’s staff. Police said that the driver seems to have dozed off, which resulted in the mishap. The car hit a tea vendor M Thyagarajan (32), first before smashing against the parked lorry. Thyagarajan, a resident of Chrompet, was admitted to RGGGH. Earlier, the parked lorry was involved in an accident on Thursday evening, police added.
