6 months on, Karnan to be released from jail today
Former Calcutta High Court judge CS Karnan, who is completing six months’ prison term that was handed out to him by the Supreme Court for contempt, will be released from a Kolkata prison on Wednesday, his lawyer said on Tuesday.

“He will stay in Kolkata for a week before coming to Chennai. His family members are already on their way to Kolkata to receive him,” said lawyer Peter Ramesh Kumar and an aide of Karnan.
Karnan, who was on the run for 40 days since he vanished from government guest house in Chennai on May 10, was arrested on June 20 from a private guest house near Coimbatore by West Bengal police team, headed by DGP Raj Kanojia. The former HC judge had vowed to fight against the “caste and corruption” that marred the judiciary before undergoing the prison term.
Karnan is reportedly working on a book during his jail term. It said that he has decided to publish his 22 controversial orders against the judiciary as a book, which is said to be auto-biographical in nature.
