Amid complaints of large-scale bribing, the Election Commission had relieved Joint Commissioner (North) R Sudhakar from the poll duty and replaced him with Prem Anand Sinha, Joint Commissioner (Traffic-south).
City Police Commissioner AK Viswanathan revealed that a total of 120 cases of poll code violations, including 22 cases of money distribution, had been registered, while recording a cash seizure of about Rs 3.48 lakh. The campaign heated up after Stalin stepped in along with the alliance partners from Congress, VCK, IUML, MDMK, CPI and CPM. Stalin is expected to reach out to at least 1 lakh voters before Tuesday evening.
Outsiders told to move out
District Election Officer D Karthikeyan said that the outsiders in the constituency, who are there for electioneering, should leave RK Nagar by the time the campaign ends at 5 pm on Tuesday. “Ideally, they should leave the constituency. If not, we would take appropriate action to oust them from the constituency,” Karthikeyan added.
