Warrant issued against Dashwanth
Chengalpattu Mahila Court on Monday issued a warrant against Dashwanth in a case involving the rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl and ordered Mangadu police to produce him before the magistrate on December 30.
Chennai
The 23-year old was nabbed from Mumbai after he escaped allegedly after killing his mother at their house in Kundrathur.
He will be lodged in Puzhal Prison till December 22. Since his advocate failed to appear for the trial on Monday, the magistrate issued a warrant against Dashwanth, who has two murder cases pending against him. Meanwhile, the prison authorities have shifted him to the high-security block in Puzhal Prison, where his movements will be constantly monitored, said sources.
It is said that the accused reportedly confessed to police that he murdered his mother Sarala since she refused to give him money for betting on horses. In his statement to police, Dashwanth had also revealed that he wanted to murder his father Sekar due to constant insult he received at home after he was bailed out.
He also said that his parents refused to provide Rs 2,000 for his expenses daily and asked him to find a job, besides scolding him constantly for spoiling the family’s reputation. Police said that he was waiting to kill his father Sekar, but he fled the scene with his mother's jewels since Sekar was away for work.
He was arrested on December 6 in Mumbai but escaped from police custody the very next day.
Dashwanth was nabbed again in a joint operation with the Maharashtra police on December 8.
He was first arrested in February this year for the alleged rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl and granted bail in September.
On December 2, he allegedly killed his mother Sarala and escaped with her jewellery.
