Ambulance delay: DMS conducts inquiry at Kanchi
The Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services (DMS) on Monday conducted an inquiry into the death of 16-year-old Sarika, the daughter of a weaver fromNazarethpettai in Kancheepuram, allegedly due to the delay in ambulances services.

Stating that he had looked into the call records of the 108-ambulance service, after which he visited Kancheepuram Government Hospital where the girl was undergoing dialysis, Dr M Enbasekaran, Director of Medical and Rural Health Service said, “I have collected the reports from both the ambulance service as well as the hospital. I will prepare a report and hand it over to Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan, after which the future course of action will be decided.” It may be recalled that the girl succumbed while being transferred from Kancheepuram Government Hospital district hospital to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH), after having waited for an ambulance for around seven hours.
