Chaos prevailed at the general body meeting of the Producer’s Council that took place on Sunday. This is the first GB meeting, after actor-producer Vishal Krishna and his team took over.
The meeting which was presided over by Vishal eventually ended ahead of schedule after a team led by Director Cheran protested against Vishal.
Many producers joined Cheran and raised questions on various issues, including streamlining the industry, producer Ashok Kumar’s suicide allegedly due to threats from private financiers to whom he owed money, etc. Sources told DT Next that apart from usury, issues like Cable TV and satellite rights were also raised by the opposition.
“They asked for an immediate solution. Things worsened when the rebel group asked Vishal for records of Council’s accounts and demanded his resignation,” the source said.
When contacted, director Cheran refused to comment on the issue. He had also staged a protest last week condemning Vishal’s decision to contest in the RK Nagar bypoll.
