Kidnapped bank manager rescued

Police said that S Muruganandham, manager of IndusInd Bank, was standing outside his bank on Thursday evening, when a gang bundled him into an autorickshaw. However, members of public intervened as Muruganandham shouted for help and rescued him.

Two of the four men were nabbed by the public and handed over them to the police. The other two managed to escape. The two caught by the public were identified as Mohammed Kasim alias Bishan, and Sherif. Dilli Babu and Askar had escaped from the scene.

During the police investigation it was found that Mohammed Kasim from Triplicane, who runs a business of import of electrical goods had approached Muruganandham to complete an illegal transaction worth Rs 6 crore for a commission of Rs 65 lakh.

Police said that the bank manager agreed to the deal and received the commission, but failed to complete the transaction. Infuriated, the businessman approached history sheeter Kutti from Mahabalipuram and hired men to allegedly kidnap the manager, police said.

A case has been registered and the police are further conducting inquires with Mohammed and Sherif and have launched a search for Dilli Babu and Askar. Police are conducting enquiry with the bank manager who had accepted the commission amount.

It may be noted that on December 6, five people were arrested for kidnapping a short film maker C Kesavan, a resident of Menambedu near Ambattur after he failed to return two expensive movie cameras her hired.

Similarly, three persons were arrested for kidnapping 29-year-old M Ribaiudin for not repaying the money he had borrowed from another person at M K B Nagar.
