DMK deploys its entire arsenal for bypoll battle

The DMK election machinery has micro-managed its electioneering so much so this time that the party has ‘appointed’ one district secretary at ward level besides bringing its best election organisers from across the state to RK Nagar.

It’s trade union wing general secretary Shanmugham has been assigned the task of overseeing the poll preparations, which includes its 65 district secretaries covering every street. As if that were not enough, DMK working president MK Stalin has planned to show his strength off by parading his ‘allies’, including foe-turned-friend Vaiko of the MDMK and the two Left parties and VCK at a rally on December 11.

DMK poll managers hope that TTV Dinakaran, precisely his go to guy and disqualified Perambur MLA Vetrivel would play spoilsport for the ruling AIADMK. “Almost all area secretaries and councilors are controlled by Vetrivel in R K Nagar. Vetrivel’s individual support would easily eat in to the ruling party votes by a few thousands,” said a DMK district secretary, not averse to projecting Dinakaran as a stronger opponent than Madhusudhanan.
