Chennai
The couple Maice and Maliya, who reached Chennai from Bangkok in an Air Asia flight at 10.15 pm, found that their baggage was tampered with when they received it on the conveyor. When they checked, they found that the valuables and cash kept inside the bag were missing. But when the couple took up the issue with the airlines staff, they merely contended that the baggage would have suffered damages when it was offloaded.Â
Following this, the couple took up the case to the airport manager, who has sought an explanation from Air Asia officials. However, no police complaint has been lodged so far.Â
Meanwhile, Customs officials on Friday seized 700 gm of gold worth Rs 21 lakh from two Sri Lankan women at Chennai airport. Hemamalini Muthukumar (32) and Keshita Jeyachandran (21), who reached Chennai from Colombo in Srilankan Airlines flight were intercepted by the officials. After their belongings were searched, they were taken to a private room and they found to be hiding gold in their dress.
