The alleged comments on ‘Hindu terrorism’ by actor Kamal Haasan in a Tamil magazine refuse to die down. The Madras High Court on Friday directed the police to register a compliant, if cognizable offence is made out. Justice MS Ramesh gave the direction on a petition filed by G Devarajan, an advocate clerk, seeking the police to register an FIR against Kamal for his comments on ‘Hindu terrorism,’ which he claimed was aimed at creating unrest in Tamil Nadu.

Referring to an article written by the actor and published on November 8, the petitioner said, the article dwelt largely on the presence of ‘Hindu terrorism’ in India and attempted to brand Hindus as terrorists. “The actor by his articles was injecting poisonous comments to create ill-will and hatred among the peace-loving citizens. His tirade against Hindus and secularism was instigating violence among the citizens and therefore, before much damage is caused, it is just and necessary to act against him,” the petitioner said.
