Cops shocked by MBA grads’ claim of raping 40
In a shocking revelation, a 27-year-old man, who was detained for trespassing, has claimed to the police that he has raped at least 40 women at knifepoint before robbing them of jewellery and cash.
Chennai
The accused, identified as Arivazhagan from Krishnagiri district, is an MBA graduate and had been staying in Ambal Nagar, police sources said. He has an assault and burglary case registered against him at Royala Nagar and Avadi police stations respectively.
The police said that he was caught by locals in Saidapet when he tried to enter a house and was later secured by police. Only during the inquiry did Arivazhagan allegedly confess to raping over 40 women at knifepoint in different parts of the city including Ambattur, Villivakkam, Ekkaduthangal and Guindy over the last three years. Police said that Arivazhagan targeted married women living alone.
His modus operandi was to rape them at knife point and rob them of jewellery and cash and a source said the cops are puzzled as how no such complaint was registered so far.
Further inquiry is on to ascertain whether his confession is true and if yes what motivated him to do so and how he has been getting away scot-free for the last three years.
