Monsoon preparedness reviewed
Chennai Metro Water Supply and Sewage Board (CMWSSB) on Wednesday held monsoon preparedness meeting in which senior officials discussed the steps to be taken to tackle the monsoon-related contingencies. The officials were advised to maintain the water quality.

Every area in the city was being monitored by a superintending engineer, an executive engineer. There will also be an area engineer and field workers to attend public complaints regarding sewer overflow, sewer obstructions and water pollution.Â
An assistant executive engineer for each shift has been posted at the control room in greater Chennai Corporation and an assistant engineer / junior engineer has been posted in CMWSSB control room. An executive engineer has been specially posted in CMWSS Board’s control room to monitor receipt of complaints and redressal.Â
A superintending engineer has also been posted to monitor the monsoon activities in most vulnerable places in the city. The damaged manhole covers are identified and replaced. Forty-three super sucker machines and 25 sewer lorries and 41 diesel pumpsets have been engaged by CMWSSB to bail out water from 15 low lying areas in the city.
