Travel agent cheats 17 with Jerusalem trip bait; arrested
Police arrested the owner a travel agency for allegedly cheating the customers, by collecting money from them to arrange for a tour to Jerusalem. The arrested have been identified as Solomon Rajan (45), a resident of Radha Nagar in Chromepet.

Police sources said that he is running a travel agency named Rainbow Tours in the same locality. He was arrested based on the complaint given by one Ramani (63), a resident of Kallikuppam, Pasumpon Nagar. She had mentioned in her complaint that she had paid Rs 65,000 and the accused failed to return the money even though the trip was cancelled. During inquiry, the Ambattur police found that there are 17 other people who were also cheated by the travel agent to tune of Rs 11.5 lakhs. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
Three held for cheating friend
Three men, who made their friend to invest in a firm and cheated him, have been arrested. The accused identified as Subbaiah (48), Shankar Kumar (39) and Senthil Kumar (35), were held based on a complaint from one Gandhi (42) of Tambu Chetty Street.
Police said that Gandhi had made an investment of Rs 23 lakh in his friends’ company named NSR groups at Porur in 2013. “His friends have promised him that, they will double his investment, if he invests money into their company. Believing their words, Gandhi had sold his house, and invested Rs 23 lakh. But till now his friends have not given Gandhi any money as promised and there was no proper response from them. Frustrated by their act, Gandhi lodged a complaint to the North Beach police station based on which three persons were arrested,” said a police officer.
