RPF senior divisional commissioner Louis Amudhan got an alert on Saturday morning about the boy from Siliguri, who is travelling to Chennai and that he could be looking for ways to end his life in Chennai as the teenager, doing first year BA, is in the last round of Blue Whale challenge. As per the alert, the RPF started monitoring all trains arriving in Chennai and traced him when he got down from Howrah – Chennai Express that arrived at the Chennai Central on Saturday.
As the photograph of the boy and other details of the teenager were sent to the RPF teams on WhatsApp, the sleuths headed by RPF inspector Mohan managed to locate him. When questioned, the youth, after some initial denial, confessed that he was instructed to reach Chennai by the Blue Whale Game administrator and that he was expecting instructions on how to end his life. Sources said that Siliguri police had registered a case of missing person based on the complaint filed by the boy’s father, a school principal.
According to RPF inspector Mohan, the youth’s notebooks had details on different ways of committing suicide, like hanging, jumping off a train and stabbing oneself. “He was waiting for instructions on how to end his life. The teenager seemed to be in a confused state of mind and he is currently under our custody. His parents are coming to Chennai on Monday morning,” Mohan said, adding that he was under the care of two RPF men and he will be handed over to the parents after one or two sessions of counselling by Child Welfare Committee officials.
