Chennai
The first bench comprising Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M Sundar, before whom the public interest litigation moved by Varaki, president, Indian Makkal Mandram, came up, ordered notice to Sivapriya and the state.Â
The bench then directed the Government Pleader (in-charge), who took notice on behalf of the state to file a counter and thereafter a rejoinder and posted the case for further hearing to November 27.Â
The petitioner had contended that the said official, who was involved in misconduct like corruption, tampering with records and registering water courses was booked even while she was working as Virugambakkam sub-registrar and the charges levelled against her were proved. He further submitted that Sivapriya had created a document pertaining to the property of one Balu Chettiyar.
In another case, she prepared a will in the name of one Chandra, who was suffering from cancer and unable to walk. She registered the same as if the said Chandra herself created a will and appeared for registration, while she didn’t, he said.
