    T Nagar slum dweller contracts dengue

    The Greater Chennai Corporation, which has been continuously monitoring the fever cases among vulnerable population, found one dengue case in the South Boag Road slum tenement on Wednesday. The patient was shifted to a government hospital for further treatment.

    After the dengue scare in the city, the Corporation has been undertaking a host of activities, while also checking for breeding sources in government offices and industrial units. As the rains continue, the Corporation is continuing its fogging activity to check breeding of vector-borne diseases,. 

    The civic body has 3,337 malaria workers, 420 fumigation machines, 245 handheld sprayers and 41 fumigation vehicles working towards controlling mosquito breeding. The medical teams have scanned 4,61,643 people and identified 6,998 fever cases, out of which 164 cases were referred for advance treatment. The Corporation’s focus towards dengue prevention will cover  Amma Canteens, schools, bus stands and railway stations, etc.
