NHAI official held for bribery
A project director of National Highways Authority of India was caught by the CBI demanding a Rs 2 lakh bribe for regularising a restaurant on the highway in Villupuram on Friday.

H Bhima Simha, is project director, NHAI, Villupuram. The arrest was made following a complaint by M Rayar, who had rented out his 6000 sq ft premises adjacent to NH-45, to run a restaurant.Â
The official had issued a notice to Rayar in May saying the restaurant was being run in an unauthorised way. Rayar later applied for regularisation and also remitted necessary official charges of Rs 1.60 lakh. As there was no response from the NHAI, Rayar went to Simha’s office on Wednesday.Â
Meanwhile, Simha demanded Rs 2 lakh and wanted the money by Friday. Â
