Student suicide: Action sought against HoD
Students of the Government Fine Arts College staged a protest on the campus on Thursday after a final year student of the college committed suicide at his home town Adukkamparai in Vellore district. The deceased student had posted his suicide note on Facebook in which he claimed that he took the extreme step as he was being harassed by his HoD.

The deceased, P Prakash (24), uploaded the photos of his suicide notes on Facebook around 3 pm on Wednesday and went missing. His parents later found his body hanging from a tree at Kolavimedu foothills on Thursday.
In the suicide notes, Prakash claimed “indirect” harassment by his department head Ravikumar. “Though I took up the matter with the Principal along with other students, I wasn’t convinced that there wouldn’t be any pressure on me,” said one of his suicide notes.
When contacted, the college Principal Mathiazhagan said the professor has been issued a notice with a deadline of seven days to reply. “An enquiry committee will also be formed and based on its report, action will be initiated against the professor,” he said.
