Kasimedu clash: Minster blames DMK, TTV Dinakaran

Jayakumar maintained that the road roko was staged even after orders to remove Chinese engines had already been passed to the Fisheries department. 

“It stands testimony to the fact that the protest itself was orchestrated. Some rowdy elements along with DMK men and Dinakaran supporters had jointly instigated the protest and the subsequent violence only to breed contempt against me. Cops have seized a bike bearing DMK leader’s picture, and another DMK worker,” Jayakumar said. He added that everyone would be brought to book. He also dropped Congress party’s name as one among the proponents of violence. 

Taking exception to the allegations of Jayakumar, disqualified Perambur MLA P Vetrivel blamed the minister for the compete ordeal. “What transpired in Kasimedu was abuse of power by the minister. He will have to answer the fisherfolk. Cops are foisting cases on youth and fisherfolk from the area. He has brought disrepute to the late CM J Jayalalithaa’s regime,” Vetrivel said.

DMK also condemned state fisheries minister Jayakumar for alleging that the DMK had instigated the fishermen protest in the city on Tuesday. 

Rebutting the minister’s allegation that the DMK had funded the fishermen’s protest, former fisheries minister and DMK MLA from Tiruvotriyur KPP Samy said the minister had insulted the fishermen and their genuine protest. The minister only has the obligation to pay people and mobilize them for rallies to satisfy the chief minister and guarantee his ministerial berth, Samy said before urging the minister to stop taunting his leader Stalin or the DMK by making such baseless allegations.
