In an unexpected twist in the suspicious death of a 35-year-old man in Vyasarpadi, the victim’s wife has been arrested for strangulating him to death.

Police said that Savithri (28), a worker at a turmeric powder making unit, spilled the beans saying that she murdered her husband Perumal as he objected to her illicit relationship with a colleague.
According to police, Savithiri after attacking Perumal claimed that her husband suffered head injuries after a fall from the bed. Subsequently, she took Perumal to Stanley Government Hospital, where doctors declared him ‘dead on arrival.’
However, during post-mortem, strangulation marks were found on the neck of Perumal. This raised suspicion over the theory of Savithiri. Following this, Vyasarpadi police brought Savithri into the investigation ring and she admitted to having murdered Perumal.
Police said that Savithri was in a relationship with her colleague Mohan, who used to frequent her house.
When Perumal came to know about Savithri’s affair, he reprimandedand asked her to end the relationship. This triggered frequent quarrels between the couple.
On October 12, Perumalcame home in an inebriated state and picked up an altercation with his wife over the issue. Savithri in a fit of rage strangulated him to death.
While Savithri was arrested on Monday, her paramour Mohan has gone into hiding. A manhunt has been launched to nab him.
