Man falls to death from third floor of mall on Arcot Road

The deceased, Yuvaraj, is an engineering graduate and a resident of Sothupakkam in Vellore and was working as a parttime tutor staying at his kin’s place in Saligramam, said police. His girlfriend is said to be from Dindigul district who is working in Coimbatore.

The duo reached the Forum Mall around 11.30 am on Tuesday and after spending a few hours they went to the food court on the third floor. An argument erupted between them and a dejected Yuvaraj ran towards the railing and jumped from there, police quoted onlookers as saying. With severe head injuries, Yuvaraj died on the spot.

The mall authorities alerted Vadapalani police, who retrieved the body and sent it to Royapettah Government Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered under Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code and police are questioning the girl to ascertain what made Yuvaraj take the extreme step. People who came to the mall for Deepavali were shocked to witness the gory incident and the business too was affected for a while.
