The victim, Chellasamy (62) of T Nagar, gave Rs 12 lakh to Paramasivam, a retired sub-inspector in 2015 to get a job for his kin in the transport department. Since Paramasivam did not live up to his words, Chellasamy demanded his money back.

A few months ago, Paramasivam returned Rs 3 lakh, but stopped all communication with Chellasamy. Later, Chellasamy lodged a complaint at Mamabalam police station.

During the investigation, police found out that Paramasivam along with his friend Sekar received the sum from the retired official. While Paramasivam has been remanded in judicial custody, police are on the look out for Sekar.
