Don Sridhar’s body taken to Chengalpattu GH
The body of Kancheepuram don Sridhar Dhanapal reached Chennai airport on Sunday morning and it was taken to Chengalpattu GH after eight hours. Police had decided to take DNA sample and fingerprint from the body as he was wanted in 43 cases, including murders in Tamil Nadu.

Though the mortal remains reached the airport at 10.45 am on Sunday morning, the relatives could not claim the body immediately as the family members had failed to produce the original documents from Cambodia, from where the body was sent.
“They had only photostat copies of the documents cleared by the immigration team in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. The immigration at Chennai had insisted for original documents. But in the evening, the relatives produced the documents attested by a notary public after which the body was released at 7 pm,” police said. The body, escorted by an inspector and two other policemen, was taken from the airport to Chengalpattu GH for post-mortem. “We need to take DNA sample and finger print to make sure it was Sridhar’s body”, a senior police official noted.
Because Sridhar had no official documents with him at the time of his death to show his nationality and identity, his family and lawyer were struggling to convince the Cambodian authority that it was his body. Indian Mission there intervened after the Madras High Court asked the Ministry of External Affairs to help the family to get the clearance from the local immigration authority to bring the body to Chennai.
In January this year, Sridhar had left Dubai, from where he was operating, using a fake Sri Lankan passport and was living in South East Asia before he reportedly committed suicide in Cambodia on October 4.
