According to an FIR registered at the station, Manoharan along with his associates stormed into the station at 8 pm and questioned the police decision to summon a pastor, involved in a tussle with some tenants, for enquiry.

Manoharan and his associates shouted slogans inside the station despite repeated requests from the policemen, including the inspector, to behave decently inside the station premises.

Detailing the background of the case, the police said that the pastor was summoned for inquiry because the complaint was against him. “The church had constructed a building and rented it out to a few shopkeepers, who were recently asked to vacate. When they refused, water connection and sewage connections were cut off by the building managers, after which the shopkeepers had lodged a complaint,” police said. Though the station officers had initially decided to ignore the incident, a senior official had watched the ruckus and asked the inspector to register a complaint, said sources.
