Rs 15 lakh worth gold seized at city airport

The Chennai-based passenger, Pazhaniyappan (35), tried to escape through the green channel claiming that he did not have any taxable items but was intercepted by officials. Since there was nothing found concealed in his baggage, he was later taken to a separate room on suspicion and a search was conducted on him. 

In the search, they found Pazhaniyappan hiding five gold biscuits in his underwear and retrieved the contraband. The gold has been estimated to be worth Rs 15 lakh. He is further being questioned about the smuggling network.
