The police, however, managed to catch two men red-handed in the latter case. The accused have been identified as Anil Kumar Patil (21) and Sagar Dutta (19) of Odisha. They were working at an electrical shop in Ambattur Industrial Estate. Police said Anil Kumar Patil is married and is residing in Manalurpet with his wife. A screw driver, a cutting machine and a junction box were seized from them.

After the preliminary inquiry, police said that the duo watched YouTube videos and learnt how to burgle ATMs. When they tried to break open the ATM on Monday night, a sensor based security system triggered an alarm. The panicked burglars tried to flee the spot, but were caught by the security personnel of Bhakthavatsalam College who handed them over to police. Police are also trying to find out whether the same men had tried to burgle the IOB ATM on Sunday.
