The deceased, M Thulasi of Triplicane and S Kamatchi of Mylapore, were in relationship for over three years and stayed on the office premises (Ward 125), said police. However, Thulasi’s mother disapproved of the relationship as she was elder to Thulasi after which there was a rift between the two. On Saturday evening, they met at the ward office and a quarrel ensued.
Thulasi immediately consumed mosquito repellent liquid and fell unconscious. Thulasi was rushed to the Royapettah Hospital but he was declared brought dead. On hearing the news, Kamatchi returned to the office premises and consumed the remaining mosquito repellent and died.
On alert, police retrieved her body and sent it for post-mortem. A police official said that the couple stayed in the office premises illegally. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
