According to police, there are 19 horses in the Mounted Force and such horses are regularly used for law and order, bandobust duty during festival time and patrol purpose. These horses would usually undergo medical check-up once in three months. The Mounted Force is also being used for temple festivals too.

The horses are being monitored and maintained by an inspector and 30 police personnel and the force would be used for beach patrol on the Marina. During festivals like Kaanum Pongal, which would see heavy crowds on the Marina, this force plays an important role in helping and protecting people from bad elements. However, from 52, the number of horses has been reduced to just 19 at present.
