Ganja seized, two peddlers arrested in Anna Nagar

A special team, which was involved in a secret surveillance on service road near C Kandaswami Naidu College, found two men moving in a suspicious manner on a two-wheeler and intercepted them. A search was conducted on them, in which ganja was found. They accused have been identified as Manikandan alias Punai Mani (22) of Anna Nagar and Sulaiman (21) of Kumaran Nagar. After investigation, they were remanded in judicial custody.

Meanwhile, police busted illegal tobacco manufacturing units in Kasimedu and R K Nagar and seized ingredients used to make substances such as mawa weighing over 200 kg and grinders. Based on specific inputs about mawa distribution in Kasimedu, a special team raided a house in Indira Nagar and found a huge stock of mawa kept ready for distribution. They also arrested Ramesh (42) from the house who confessed that he has been supplying banned tobacco products to shops in R K Nagar. Similarly, another team led by R K Nagar inspector arrested Chandrasekar (42) of Korukkupet for hiding the banned tobacco products in his house at Kamarajar Nagar.
