25 workers hurt in van-lorry collision
A van carrying private firm employees collided head on with a lorry near Sriperumbudur in which 25 persons, including several women, were severely injured on Thursday.

According to police, all of them travelling in the van were working in a private company located at Pallipattu. The workers, after completing their shift, were returning homes in the company vehicle.
When the van reached Arcot Kuppam village near Tiruttani around 2 am, a speeding lorry laden with vegetables to the Koyambedu market, came in the opposite direction and in a flash, hit the front portion of the van.
In the impact, lorry driver Karthik, van driver Ajith Kumar and three more persons suffered grevious injuries, while many others suffered minor injuries. Upon hearing the noise, passersby rushed to the spot and rescued the injured persons and admitted them to the Thiruvallur government hospital.
Kanakammachatram police have registered a case and are investigating.
A police official from Kanakammachatram station said, “The condition of the workers and drivers of both vehicles is stable and they will be discharged from the hospital soon.”
