Suspended TSP constable run over by train; suicide suspected
A 27-year-old police constable attached to the Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) XIII battalion was run over by an express train in a suspected case of jaywalking, late on Wednesday. The cop was suspended recently.

Police said around 10.30 pm, Kovai Express heading to Chennai knocked him down when he was crossing the tracks near Annanur Railway Station. He was on the way to his house after reporting for duty.
The deceased is identified as Prabhakaran (27), a native of Tirunelveli district. The body was moved to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital by Avadi Government Railway Police, which is also probing into the incident to establish whether it was a case of accident or suicide. Sources said Prabhakaran who joined the service in 2013 was posted in Tihar as part of VIII battalion and was recently transferred to Chennai and was inducted into XIII battalion.
He was suspended from work after he reportedly threatened to use his service weapon to kill himself.
Since his suspension, Prabhakaran who must draw half-salary until full reinstatement had to attend the roll call once a day. On Wednesday, he attended the roll call at 6.30 pm and was heading to his accommodation when the mishap occurred.
