Guard hurt as gun goes off
A security guard of a private firm was injured after the double barrel gun he was carrying went off accidentally at Teynampet signal on Thursday afternoon.

Retired army personnel K Duraisamy, 52, carried the gun as a part of his job with a cash transfer firm at Habibullah Road in T Nagar.
The incident occurred around 2 pm when the staff was on their way to Cenatoph Road to load money into ATMs, said a source in the police.Â
The driver applied brake suddenly causing Duraisamy to lost control of his weapon as it fired off two shots, one of which hit his right hand.
The other hit the roof of the vehicle, said the police. Duraisamy has been admitted to a private hospital near Manapakkam.Â
The shots also scared motorists in the area. The police came to their rescue after the staff in the van alerted them and the firm about the incident.Forensic experts, who collected evidence from the spot, and the Teynampet Police ruled out foul play.
This is not the first time that an employee of the firm hurt himself in a misfire. On July 14, 2015, one of its staff was injured after his gun slipped from his hand and fired three shots accidentally.
