Kamal Haasan only actor to be listed as speaker at Murasoli event
The release of invitation cards for DMK party organ Murasoli’s 75th anniversary celebrations on Monday has brought actor-producer Kamal Haasan once again in the spotlight as he is the only actor among the 11 dignitaries invited to deliver the felicitation address.
Chennai
The event, which is expected to take place on August 10 at the Kalaivanar Arangam here, has a long list of speakers from all the major publishing houses including S Balasubramanian Adityan of the Daily Thanthi group, besides renowned Kollywood lyricist Kavignar Vairamuthu.
While both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth had been invited for the event, Kamal’s acceptance to participate as a speaker has once again reinforced the veteran actor’s tilt towards the principal Opposition party especially in the wake of the continuing attacks from several AIADMK ministers over his statement on corruption in the present regime.
Kamal Haasan’s earlier statement that he need not form a new party to enter politics and his acceptance to speak at Murasoli event has kept his fans wondering if there is a message for them. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth has yet again decided to keep people guessing on his political leanings and intentions. However, some insiders said Rajini was not keen on speaking, but could attend the event as a guest.
When asked about the developments, DMK leader RS Bharathi said, “We have been preparing for the past six months to celebrate this event.
Even before Kamal Haasan’s statement against the government, he was invited by us. As far as actor Rajinikanth is concerned, he showed his willingness to participate in the function but we did not mention his name upon his request. However, we hope he will surely take part in the function.”
Khusbhoo’s latest tweet confounds Kamal watchers
Even as speculation is on regarding actor Kamal Haasan cozying up to the Opposition DMK, a tweet by his former co-star and Congress spokesperson Khusbhoo Sundar has raised new doubts if there were other parties trying to woo the popular actor . In her tweet, Khushboo said, “Stay strong my friend.. so proud of you.. fringe groups n failing political wings wud want 2 ride on your shoulders for 2 mnts fame.. u r right in ur stand n I will always stand by u, supporting u..Don’t let anything eter u n shake ur belief in fighting 4 a change for better...”
