According to police officials, Kanagaraj had gone to the farmhouse located on the ECR with 20 other colleagues on Saturday afternoon. “While the friends were swimming in the resort pool, Kanagaraj suddenly drowned. While his friends did not notice him initially, they later found him lying at the bottom of the pool,” police said.
The group was shocked to see Kangaraj without any response and rushed him to a private hospital in the locality, but the doctors declared him brought dead. The police later filed a case at the Kanathur police station and sent the deceased techie’s body to the Royapettah government hospital for post mortem. Kanagaraj’s wife Kavitha, was informed of the incident. She had also filed a complaint at the police station.
The couple have a son, said sources. The investigating officer said that while they do not suspect any foul play in the death, more details would be revealed after obtaining the autopsy report. “We will take any action, if necessary, based on the report,” he said.
Following interrogation, the police also claimed that Kanagaraj’s friends had ruled out the possibility of the victim being drunk while he had gone for a swim.
“His wife Kavitha has also said that he did not have any medical condition that could cause such a sudden death. We do not know if he knew how to swim,” a police official said. Further investigations are on.
