    Suspecting affair with wife, man kills brother

    A 35-year-old office assistant of Annamalai University in Chidambaram was hacked to death by his younger brother in Abhiramapuram in the wee hours of Thursday after the latter suspected his wife of being in a relationship with him.

    The deceased has been identified Rajendra, who recently got transferred from Mumbai to Chidambaram while his wife stayed back. According to police, his brother Venkatramana, who worked as a junior assistant in Annamalai University, suspected that his wife Priya alias Bhavana’s had relationship with Rajendra. 

    On Wednesday night, he found a photo of them together in Rajendra’s phone that showed when they were consuming liquor on the terrace of their sibling Pulendran’s house. This led to an argument between the borthers. In a fit of rage, Venkatramana pulled out a knife and hacked Rajendra to death around 3 am. Later, he surrendered to police. 

    Pulendran had no idea of the incident and was sleeping in the house, said an investigation officer. Police have arrested the accused Venkatramana (31) and seized the knife from him. They said Rajendra had been staying at Pulendran’s house for the last 20 days. Police are yet to interrogate Priya. Rajendra’s body has been sent to Royapettah Government Hospital for post mortem.
