City varsity gives out pads to female cops
As part of their #BlessedtoBleed campaign, Sathyabama University will give eco-friendly sanitary pads to the female cops in the city every month.

“So happy to share that through our Blessed to Bleed campaign. We will be distributing eco friendly sanitary napkins to police women,” said Dr Mariazeena Johnson, Pro Chancellor, Sathyabama University, in a Facebook post.
The napkins will be made at the college using the machines the University procured earlier this year from Arunachalam Muruganantham, who is also known as India’s Menstrual Man. For years he has been campaigning to make sanitary pads affordable for women across the country.
Appreciating this initiative, he posted, “A nation is developed only when its women are empowered! Sanitary pads play a vital role in empowering women. .. A commendable initiative. Menstrual awareness is spreading!”
Dr Mariazeena added that the pads are made by the college staff for which they are paid.
“Through this, the staff at the university will also get a chance to earn extra money. We have started with five staff members who make around 200 pads a day. There will be six pads in each pack. In the coming days, we plan to give away around 500 pads to the most vulnerable sections of the society who can’t afford them. We will also increase the operations and reach out to more institutions and NGOs to give away free pads,” she added.
