Abused transgender ends life
A 25-year-old transgender committed suicide by hanging after facing humiliation from her neighbour in Villivakkam. The deceased Priya’s body was recovered from her house on Friday and sent for post-mortem.

Police said that the face-off between the accused Vadivukkarasi and the victim Priya was over the latter’s dog which allegedly went into Vadivukkarasi’s house on Thursday.
Vadivukkarasi was said to have verbally abused Priya in return in full public view, which led her to take the extreme step. Police have registered a case against Vadivukkarasi.
In yet another case, a 60-year-old who tried to commit suicide by jumping into Adyar river, was rescued with the help of public.
The man has been identified as Govindaraj. Family dispute is said to be reason for his suicide attempt.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old doctor was found dead at the water sump in his house in Kolathur on Friday.
He has been identified as Rajesh, who had a clinic in Mogappair (West). Alerted by Rajesh’s neighbours police found him floating dead in the water sump.
He was suspected to have died three days earlier. Police said that Rajesh was supposed to get married on July 3 and his parents had left for their hometown Tirupathur in Sivaganga district to do the wedding arrangements.
