Police, while investigating a case of alleged abduction based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s wife, first found the car, which was used for the abduction, with blood stains on its seats abandoned near Maduravoyal and later recovered the body of the employee from a location at Minjur.

Police said Yousuf (45), the main accused, planned the abduction and murder as he suspected that Kathiresan (45), the victim, was having an illicit affair with his wife, who was also the niece of Kathiresan.

Yousuf and his accomplices abducted Kathiresan from Venkatesha Gramini Street in Chintadiripet on Friday and took him to a spot in Minjur, where they stabbed him to death and threw the body in bushes. The gang had abandoned the car in a grave yard in Maduravoyal, police added. They had acquired CCTV footage from the surroundings in Chintadripet that showed the gang kidnapping Kathiresan in a car.

Police then started searching for the car and picked up three suspects based on the CCTV footage. When they were making inquiries to find out if Kathiresan had enmity with anybody, it came to light that Yousuf had lodged complaints twice against Kathiresan alleging that he was having an illegal affair with his wife.

The suspects confessed that Yousuf was behind the murder. Police then arrested Yousuf, Ganesan, Jaisingh, Lokanathan, Bala alias Balasubramanian and Suresh. The arrested were produced before the magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody.

“Yousuf, the prime accused, had earlier lodged a complaint against his wife and Kathiresan at the Tirumangalam all women police station, alleging that they were having an illicit affair. His wife had also given a complaint of torture against Yousuf, saying that he was beating her up,” said S Manoharan, Joint Commissioner of Police, East, told DTNext

He said the accused had again given a complaint on May 7, 2017, alleging that his wife had taken away his kids to Chintadripet and was acting as per the directions of Kathiresan. So, when nothing worked in his favour, Yousuf conspired to murder Kathiresan with the help of his friends. Police said the body of the victim has been sent to Ponneri government hospital for post mortem.
