Woman alleges abuse by AWPS Inspector
A 25-year-old woman submitted a petition at the office of the commissioner of police stating that the inspector of all-women police station (AWPS), ill-treated and abused her in Sembium near Perambur.
Chennai
Saranya from Tiruverkadu in her petition to the police alleged that Idhayakala, the inspector, passed abusive comments against her when she visited the AWPS last week to lodge a complaint against her estranged husband Balaji, a two-wheeler mechanic.
Saranya said that she was upset over the drug addiction of Balaji and separated from him last year. The couple were wedded for eight years. “It was Idhayakala, who negotiated the separation and secured me guardianship of my two children — Arvind (6) and Ganesh (4),” said Saranya.
Saranya said that her jewels, clothes and birth certificates of her children were still in Balaji’s house. When she went to the police station last week seeking Idhayakala’s help to get back her valuables, the latter allegedly verbally abused and made derogatory remarks about Saranya’s conduct.
Even after repeated attempts Inspector Idhayakala could not reached for comments.
