Mugged couple robbed of Rs 5 lakh

According to Vishnukanchi police, Prem Kumar (54), a resident of Tirumeteeshwarar Pilliar Koil Street, Kancheepuram and his wife, Bhuvaneswari were mugged by a twomember gang around 6 am near Kancheepuram Moongil Mandapam. 

Police said Prem Kumar was working as a manager at a petrol bunk near Rangasamy Kulam area and his wife also works there as a clerk. The couple was on their way to work with the bag containing Rs.5 lakh, the collection from the petrol bunk. 

When their bike reached Moongil Mandapam, two persons on another bike followed them and the pillion rider snatched the cash bag from Bhuvaneshwari. When they tried to retrieve the bag, Prem Kumar lost control and both fell off the bike. But, the two men escaped with the bag. Prem Kumar then lodged a complaint with the Vishnukanchi police and the investigation is on.
