24-year-old murdered by gang in Velachery

A 30-year-old Armed Reserve personnel posted at Ernavur near Ennore and his wife were found hanging at their rented house on Thursday morning. Police said that the couple, Soundrapandian and Sasikala (22), used to quarrel often, ever since they were married one and a half  years ago. On Thursday morning, they allegedly committed suicide in their house. On information, Ennore police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to hospital for post mortem.

Adyar police on Wednesday arrested four youth including a college student and a juvenile, for allegedly snatching a handbag from a woman. The accused started running when a police patrol vehicle in Kasthurbhai first Cross Street spotted and caught them. During the interrogation, they revealed that they had snatched a woman’s hand bag at Gandhi Nagar bus stop a few minutes ago. The hand bag belonged to Priyanka of Kelambakkam, said police officials.

Chozhavaram police arrested five persons and sealed a company which has been producing fake vehicle lubricant oils at Devaneri near Chozhavaram. Based on a tip off received by the Tiruvallur district collector, revenue officials along with Chozhavaram police conducted raids on the company and found used oil being adulterated and packed in other brand names. Following this, the authorities sealed the company. Police have arrested five persons and further investigation is on.
