It seemed to be turning out to be true for 22-year-old Sheetal when, in 2015, she posted on Facebook that she was disappointed that the social networking site did not allow people to be in a ‘relationship’ with food. Little did she know that two years later, she would meet the love of her life _ Pizza _ on a dating app. While swiping on Tinder, she came cross a profile called ‘Pizzaah’.

The description just said, ‘Cheesy inside out. But you know I’m the hottest slice you will ever have. I know you want a pizza me. Swipe right for some cheesy, punny time’. “My first question to him was: ‘Will you marry me’. Then he went on to become too cheesy for my liking,” says Sheetal. Mr Pizzaah later turned out to be regular dude who was looking for some interesting conversations.

“These profiles are not to be taken seriously. There is a lot of talk about Tinder, an app specifically for single men and women. However, some married people get curious and create fake profiles to just check out what’s the noise is all about. I had a female friend who created a fake profile to check if her husband was using the app. She called herself Rose and no points for guessing, her display picture was that of a rose.

One needs a Facebook profile to log onto the dating app. They take all the trouble to create a fake profile to get into the app,” says Gayathri R, another Tinder user, who interestingly found ‘Virat Kohli’s profile on the app a few days ago.

“It had pictures of Kohli and showed that he was just eight kilometres away. This happened while I was watching the real Kohli play against South Africa in the Champions Trophy around 6,704 km away! For those who like humour, it’s a field day every day.

“I found Indra Nooyi on Tinder. The next stop was 66-year-old Geetha Paati, who was looking for a ‘long-term’ relationship. I uninstalled the app,” says stand-up comedian Balaji Vijayaraghavan, adding, “I would love to engage in conversations with these characters as they have taken all the pain to be funny. As a performer, it only gives me more content and an amazing source of cheap entertainment.”
